Branded Hotel Inventory in Canada
The number of branded hotels as a percentage of total hotel stock in Canada continues to grow, spurred by owners, lenders and customers that see the value of branding regimen and standards. In 2015 HLT undertook an update of our inventory of regional, national and international brands operating in Canada. The inventory identifies, for each hotel, location (segmentable by city, metro area and province), number of rooms, chain-scale classification, brand and brand family (e.g., Sheraton and Weston are brands within the Starwood brand family). The 2015 study (with data to December 31, 3014) was compared to the 2011 version to understand increases/decreases in hotels and hotel rooms over a four-year period.
